NERIS & incident reporting

From dispatch to an approved NERIS report.

NFIRS ended on January 31, 2026. Reskyr was built on the NERIS data model from the first line of code, so the report your crew writes is the report NERIS expects, with the same data model from the first field to the last.

NERIS-native

Reskyr was written for NERIS from the start.

Most fire software is still translating old NFIRS forms into the new standard. Reskyr is NERIS V1 Compatible and built on the NERIS 1.5.1 specification itself.

  • Catches gaps before you hit submitRequired modules are checked while you write. A structure fire missing its risk-reduction details is flagged before it leaves the building.
  • Follows every report through reviewSending, received, approved. You see each record's status in NERIS without logging into another site. Rejected reports raise a banner on Command Center.
  • Corrections update the same recordReopen, fix and resubmit. The same NERIS record is updated in place.
  • Your department, already set upAlready with another NERIS vendor? Import your incidents, stations and apparatus in one click. New to NERIS? Publish your stations and units from Reskyr in one step.
NERIS V1 Data Exchange Compatible seal
NERIS V1 Data Exchange Compatible

Reskyr passed NERIS's technical compatibility review.

The NERIS V1 Compatible badge confirms technical compatibility with the NERIS API. It does not mean NERIS endorses, certifies or recommends any product.

The reporting module

Reports done right the first time, and followed all the way through.

Write it right

  • Required NERIS modules are checked as you write, so gaps show up before submission
  • Every NERIS module, from fire and hazmat detail to medical, exposures and EV, solar, CSST and oxygen hazards
  • "Check with NERIS" asks NERIS whether it would accept the report, without sending it
  • Times, units and address pre-filled from CAD, narrative templates, and photos on the report
  • Your own report fields (shift, district, billing code), kept in Reskyr and never sent to NERIS

Review and file

  • Review routes by station and incident type, in one or more stages, with return-with-note
  • Batch filing: send up to 50 reviewed reports to NERIS at once, with a reason for any that didn't go
  • Each report's NERIS status shown in Reskyr: sending, received, approved or rejected
  • Corrections reopen and update the same NERIS record
  • No Activity Reports for months with no calls

Bring your history

  • Switching NERIS vendors? Import your whole run history, each incident linked to its NERIS record
  • Import your stations and units from NERIS, or publish Reskyr's to NERIS
  • A clean PDF of any report for insurers, boards and grant reviewers
Beyond the incident report

The rest of the call's paperwork, from the same record.

Does your state ask for more than NERIS? See state reporting.

Incident Analysis for building fires

  • The NERIS follow-up record for year built, units, occupants and property and contents loss
  • File it from a fire investigation, or choose to file it for every building fire
  • The Command Center lists building fires still owed an analysis

Patient contacts

  • Initials-only records for non-transport EMS assists
  • GCS, orientation, timed vitals, medications and procedures
  • A tap-to-mark body diagram with Rule of Nines burn percentage
  • One click fills the NERIS medical section from them

Cost recovery

  • Itemized, insurance-ready invoices from the incident: unit hours, person-hours and flat fees
  • Mutual-aid invoices to other departments
  • Payments post to Finance, with aging
Reskyr AI on the report

Less typing, with a person still deciding every line.

Reskyr AI is included in every plan and off until your department asks for it.

Narrative review

  • A checklist of what your narrative may be missing. Your words stay your words.

NERIS field suggestions

  • One suggestion at a time, each quoting the sentence it came from. You choose.

Strict by design

  • Reskyr AI sees the crew as a headcount and never reads patient contact records; narrative review flags any names left in the narrative
  • Every accept, edit or reject is written to your audit log
